Lately...

Life is crazy. There are a bunch of blogs I need/want to write, but I can't promise they will happen anytime soon. So, here's a mish-mash, if you will.

Last weekend one of my best friends in all the land, Mary, came to visit. We had a blast. I love her. A lot. And wish we lived closer.

Liam has finally gotten big enough to wear his clothes that "Oma" & "Opa" Pohle got for him in London. Too sweet!

Becky also made him that quilt and it's one of his prized possessions. Even if he doesn't know it yet. :)

We got a wild hair and decided to switch Liam's room/the office and our master bedroom. So, now we sleep in the loft and Liam sleeps in his crib in a room by himself! Sob! Such a big boy. No pictures yet, it is very much a work in progress still.

Yesterday, Liam got to meet his cousins Jackson & Annie! We went to McCreary's for lunch and had a great time visiting, it's always a treat when we get to see family on our own turf!

And now, Ryan is heading out of town for a few days so my mom has come to stay with Liam and I to help me out! We are excited to hang with JuJu!

5 Months Old!

Dear Liam,

You are 5 months old! This is starting to get ridiculous, I feel like I am living life at warp speed and you are growing too fast! The good news is that you get sweeter every day!

This has been a big month of development for you, little love. You can roll from side to side and just rolled from tummy to back while lying in the floor next to me! Way to go lil fella! You can hold your head up when you want to and can support your head with your arms while lying on your tummy. You like to stick your legs straight up in the air and work on those tummy muscles. You have fallen in love with your hands and it is rare that they are both not stuffed in your little mouth. You have started playing with a few rattle toys. You like the ones with crinkly paper. You have also started snuggling with your lovie and you still twirl your hair or gently tickle the left side of your head when you are sleepy or trying to fall asleep.

Your personality just shines, and it is so rewarding to be on the receiving end of one of your smiles! You have started laughing out loud a lot this month, but we can't seem to figure out what you think is funny so that you will do it on command! You are just a precious little love!

According to our home scale, you weigh 14 pounds and 8 ounces. I am not sure if you have grown in length, but I imagine you have since you have grown everywhere else. You are still wearing size one diapers and 0-3 months clothes. Maybe one of these days you'll move on to the 3-6 month drawer...

You have been eating oatmeal cereal for about a month now and you love it a lot. We will be trying some new foods soon, so Mommy had better get in the kitchen and start making you some pureed food!

Most of the hair on the top of your little head has fallen out and your new hair is coming in pretty light. We're not sure if it's blonde or light brown yet, but it's so fun seeing your little body change and grow before our very eyes.

You have always been a good sleeper, but in the past few weeks you have started sleeping for twelve hour stretches at night without your little snack in between! Napping is a different story, you usually take 2-3 naps a day and they vary from 30 minutes to 2 hours. While your napping is inconsistent and sometimes frustrating for your studying Daddy, we appreciate your good night time sleeping! We started letting you sleep unswaddled this month and you've done great with the transition! You are just a flexible, little go-with-the-flow kinda guy.

You are still eating roughly every three hours during the day. You either nurse or take a 6 ounce bottle of pumped milk. You eat a little serving (one tablespoon) of oatmeal cereal every evening before your bath. I have no idea what the appropriate or "normal" amount of eating is for a baby your size, but you are growing and don't seem hungry so we will keep following your cues!

You are the greatest thing to ever happen to your Daddy and me and we love you with a love that knows no bounds. You still love to snuggle and will burrow right into us anytime we love on you, which is a lot of the time. :) We are blessed beyond measure to call you ours and we love learning more about you and about ourselves every day. Keep growing little man, but take it slow.

Love you forever,
Momma

Trying to roll over at the wrong time. :)
