Next week I am traveling to Arkansas to go to my first children's consignment sale. This particular sale is huge and supposedly has everything I need for the baby! My sister works at the sale every year and actually bought me a breast pump last spring for $30 that normally retails for $200! We have put off purchasing a lot of things in hopes of finding them for cheap at this sale! Hopefully I will do really well and not get overwhelmed by all of the options. I will be meeting up with one of my best friends who is also pregnant and I am excited to spend time with her and shop! Wish me luck! I will follow up and let you know what all we got!
What I am hoping to find for $200 or less:
Crib
Mattress
Infant Car Seat
Stroller
Neutral Winter Clothing 0-6 months

29 Weeks!
and from the front
Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 29 Weeks, 2 days
Size of baby: 17 inches, 3.1 pounds; butternut squash
Total Weight Gain: 11 pounds (i think)
Maternity Clothes: Pretty much all I wear now with the exception of lounge clothes, dresses, and a few select work clothes. I did just order some new work maternity clothes so I don't look like a hobo everyday. My work shirts are getting pretty short.
Gender: It's either a boy or a girl.
Movement: Moving a lot and throughout the day and night. When I wake up in the night, baby is moving. I stood too close to the register at work the other day and the baby kicked and a hit the register. Pretty funny! I've started referring to the baby as "Lurch" because my entire belly lurches form side to side.
Sleep: Starting to get uncomfortable. I've been trying to prop myself up with pillows and use a pillow between my knees, but I don't usually make it through the night without completely rearranging the whole situation.

Symptoms: Heartburn, fatigue, backache, hip pain.
Food Cravings/Aversions: Still no real cravings. Enjoying cold drinks, Sonic ice, frozen yogurt. Threw up once last week after eating salad. Literally every romaine lettuce salad that I have eaten while being pregnant has made me sick. So weird.
What I am looking forward to: Cooler weather. Childbirth classes starting next week! Getting our apartment baby ready. Baby showers next weekend in Arkansas.

28 Weeks!
Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 28 Weeks, 2 days
Size of baby: 15 inches, 2.2 pounds; cucumber
Total Weight Gain: 9 pounds
Maternity Clothes: Wearing them. Loving them. Wishing the weather would cool off so I could have an excuse to buy the cute fall maternity clothes that are coming out. Still rocking the pre-preg dresses and some work pants.
Gender: Unknown. Still don't want to find out.
Movement: Moving a lot. Still really active at night, but has gotten more active while I am moving around. This confuses me sometimes. I almost fell down while walking down the sidewalk the other day because baby kicked so hard it threw me off balance!
Sleep: Starting to get uncomfortable. I have been doing better at sleeping on my side, but my hips are so sore that I wake up more often. Leg cramps have subsided.

(nasty glucola)
I had my glucose testing done last week and I passed! The drink was disgusting and I was dreading it so badly, but I managed to keep it down! I also got my first round of the RhoGam shot which other than a sore hip, was uneventful. I am now going to the doctor every two weeks which is a bit overwhelming! We start childbirth classes soon and when I look at my calendar it pretty much already revolves around baby!

Meet Ellie!
Our new (to us) 2003 Honda Element!
Before we went to Colorado we made the big decision to purchase this vehicle. My Saab was costing us a ton of money each month in repairs and we wanted something that would be more reliable and more family friendly for when the baby is born. We broke Ellie in with our drive to Colorado and back and I must say that we are very pleased with our purchase. We bought her at Carmax and purchased the extended warranty, so anything that does go wrong will not break the bank!

Mr. Ritter
I love music. Most importantly, I love music that tells a story and lyrics that are complex and picturesque. If the lyrics don't make sense or mean nothing, you can guarantee I'm not interested. Some of my favorite artists are Damien Rice, Nickel Creek, Death Cab for Cutie, and most recently Josh Ritter.
Last week, as an early birthday present to Ryan, we got to see Josh Ritter play here in Nashville! We had a blast! Albeit I was a bit cranky by the time we left (early), due to the fact that the venue was super crowded, hot, and filled with pushy people. I think Ryan really enjoyed himself a lot, and I felt bad for asking to leave early, but he was a good sport.
My favorite thing about the show was how excited Josh seemed to be playing for the audience. He seemed genuinely happy to be on that stage and was smiling so hard that his eyes were almost closed. I thought it was really refreshing considering most of the shows I have been to in Nashville, while wonderful, have seemed a bit like the artists were too big for their britches.
These are the lyrics to my favorite Josh Ritter tune. I think this is one of my top 5 songs of all time. I loved getting to see this performed live. And I especially loved singing along while swaying with my husband in the back of the crowded, hot, pushy people filled venue...

The Curse
He opens his eyes
Falls in love at first sight
With the girl in the doorway
What beautiful lines
Heart full of life
After thousands of years, what a face to wake up to
He holds back a sigh
As she touches his arm
She dusts off the bed where til now he's been sleeping
Under mires of stone
The dry fig of his heart
Under scarab and bone
Starts back to its beating
She carries him home
In a beautiful boat
He watches the sea from a porthole in stowage
He can hear all she says
As she sits by his bed
And one day his lips answered her
In her own language
The days quickly pass
He loves making her laugh
The first time he moves it's her hair that he touches
She asks "Are you cursed?"
He says "I think that I'm cured."
Then he talks of the Nile and the girls in ?bull rushes?
In New York he is laid
In a glass covered case
He pretends he is dead
People crowd round to see him
But at night she comes round
And the two wander down the halls of the tomb
That she calls a museum
But he stops to rest
Then less and less
Then it's her that looks tired
Staying up asking questions
He learns how to read
From the papers that she is writing about him
Then he makes corrections
It's his face on her book
More come to look
Families from Iowa
Upper West-Siders
Then one day it's too much
He decides to get up
Then as chaos ensues he walks outside to find her
She is using a cane
And her face looks too pale
But she's happy to see him
As they walk he supports her
She asks "Are you cursed?"
But his answer is obscured
In a sandstorm of flashbulbs
Rowdy reporters
Such reanimation
The two tour the nation
He gets out of limos
Meets other women
He speaks of her fondly
Their nights in the museum
She's just one more rag now he's dragging behind him
She stops going out
She just lies there in bed
In hotels in whatever towns they are speaking
Then her face starts to set
And her hands start to fold
Then one day the dry fig of her heart stops its beating
Long ago on the ship
She asked why pyramids
He said "Think of them as an immense invitation."
She asks "Are you cursed?"
He says "I think that I'm cured."
Then he kissed her and hoped
That she'd forget that question

26 Weeks!
Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 26 Weeks, 2 days
Size of baby: 15 inches, 2.2 pounds; cucumber
Total Weight Gain: 8 pounds
Maternity Clothes: Wearing them. Loving them. Still wearing all of my pre-pregnancy sun dresses. Can still wear low rise pre-pregnancy pants, they just aren't as comfortable as elastic waistbands! I am also about to have to buy some new maternity polos for work, mine are getting a little short and I've never been a fan of the belly shirt.
Gender: Unknown. Still don't want to find out. Folks still predicting girl.
Movement: Moving a lot. Baby's new nickname is "wiggle worm." During church yesterday the baby kicked so hard that I gasped out loud. My new favorite thing is to watch my belly wiggle around like a bowl full of jelly. :)
Sleep: Still waking up multiple times to pee in the night. This was supposed to decrease during the second trimester and it didn't for me. This makes me a little nervous about the third trimester when it is supposed to increase again. I am also waking up once or twice a week with leg cramps now. I am drinking tons of water and increasing my potassium. I think they are plaguing me because I stand up all day at work; I am trying to sit more.

Food Cravings/Aversions: Beef sounds good to me all the time. Still enjoying all things cold with the record high temperatures we have been having I have doubled my already large liquid consumption. Slushes, powerade, orange juice, grapefruit juice. I really really really wish we had a shaved ice stand.
What I am looking forward to: Cooler weather. Meeting the wiggle worm.
